The Goecha La trek starts from Yuksom and it takes about a week to complete the trek and come back to Yuksom.

  • Foreign tourists are required to travel with a Protected Area Permit (PAP) to enter states of Nagaland, Sikkim, parts of Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur and Mizoram. Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Chinese and Myanmar’s nationals can get PAP only with the approval of the Ministry of Home Affairs.
  • The climate of North East changes rapidly so it is better to pack wisely after your complete research. Some parts of the region, especially the hilly areas, are cool even during the summers and you might need light woolens. It may even rain anytime, so carry an umbrella as well.

How to Reach

By Air: The Borjhar Airport is the nearest airport to reach Assam, which is 25km from Guwahati. The Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati is well connected by air with the major cities like New Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai and Chennai. There are regular domestic flights from Kolkata, Imphal and Guwahati to Aizawl, the capital of Mizoram. Reaching Manipur by air is very convenient. The airport is only 6 kms away from Imphal.

By train: All the major cities of India are connected to Assam by rail. Harmuty is the nearest railhead to reach Arunachal Pradesh. The nearest railhead to reach Meghalaya is Guwahati, which is well connected to the rest of the country such as Delhi, Bangalore, Jorhat, Puri, Kolkata and Ledo.

By road: Assam is well connected to all its neighbouring states by road. The National Highway 31, 37, 38 and 40 connects Assam to the major cities of India. By road you can reach Itanagar and Naharlugan from its neighbouring states, Assam and Meghalaya
