We have designed this tour packages by focusing on the main sightseeings according to other travellers, but here you can customize this tour as you desire.
Upon your arrival in Delhi, you will be met by a member of our team and chauffeured to the Imperial hotel. Built in 1934 as a jewel in the crown by the British Raj, this landmark hotel located in the heart of New Delhi exudes style and colonial elegance. Designed by Lutyens assistant, Bromfield, the inlaid marble floors, three-story atriums, fountains and lithographs complement well appointed rooms, grand suites, wonderful restaurants and bars. Take it easy this afternoon to relax, settle in, and recuperate from your international journey. Depending on the time of your arrival, if you’d like to begin exploring this afternoon you can let us know anytime – your chauffeur is always on hand and we’re only a quick call away on your complimentary mobile phone.
A guided tour of both Old and New Delhi today will introduce you to the Jama Masjid, Qutab Minar, India Gate, Parliament House, Humayun’s Tomb and the Sikh temple. The itinerary we’ve prepared in advance is a guideline and is completely flexible to your preferences on the day – you may let your guide know your interests and he will tailor the day to better suit your tastes (we’re known for our flexible approach, allowing you complete control over the pace of your trip). After exploring the bustling capital, you’ll return to the Imperial in the evening.
After breakfast, you’ll be chauffeured to Jaipur for a two night stay (flights are available should you prefer). Upon arriving in the Pink City, head to Dera Amer – a magical place on the outskirts of the city, where you can spend time up close with elephants by helping to feed and bathe them, before taking a sunset trek through the forest. This evening you’ll check-in to Samode Haveli – a heritage hotel built for a prime minister of the royal court in the mid-19th century. It is arranged around two courtyards with a maze of narrow, and at times, steep staircases and corridors which lead to charming rooms and suites. Many of these have retained their original decor with beautiful frescoes, antique furniture and pillars inlaid with marble. Those who prefer to explore Jaipur further on foot are in an ideal location.
A full day of guided sightseeing in the Pink City. Take in the spectacular Amber Fort and City Palace Museum, as well as the Jantar Mantar observatory, Hawa Mahal (Wind Palace) and Jal Mahal (Water Palace). This evening, learn how to prepare authentic Rajasthani cuisine on a private cooking class at Kalwara House.
Depart for Raipur by road this morning. Raipur’s a bustling village located deep in the Rajasthani countryside, located off the tourist trail and set within charming natural landscapes. It’s a true representative of rural Rajasthani life and a beautiful place to spend a couple of days. Upon arriving, you’ll check-in to Lakshman Sagar and the remainder of the afternoon’s at leisure. Lakshman Sagar is a hidden gem of a hotel, and everything found in the 12 small cottages has been sourced from within the local community. This original idea, alongside a variety of bespoke village-theme activities, allows guests to really experience many aspects of traditional Rajasthani village life. This property is perfect for those looking to unwind and relax in a beautiful and tranquil natural setting. The interiors of the public areas and the cottages are done up in a colourful quirky style which manages to encapsulate both Rajasthani culture with a more modern boutique aesthetic, the overall effect being wonderfully ‘shabby-chic’.
The day is at your leisure today, to relax and enjoy the resort, or explore the local area at your own pace. There are lots of activities on offer that you may like to arrange: eat breakfast and learn about milking techniques at the nearby dairy, visit the village school and have henna traditionally applied by local women. Each cottage faces the lake and comes with a refreshing and private plunge pool; a perfect place to relax and enjoy the view. Enjoy home-cooked meals, all made with locally-sourced ingredients, and be sure to take a swim in the innovative rock-face style swimming pool.
Proceed to the bewitching little town of Pushkar, for a two night stay during the colourful Pushkar Fair. En-route, you’ll be met by your guide in Ajmer to discover the Dargarh Sharif, before continuing into Pushkar for a tour of the town; taking in the holy lake, it’s many ghats, and the rare Brahma temple. Later you’ll check in to the Greenhouse Resort – nestled on the peaceful outskirts of Pushkar and surrounded by the Aravalli hills, the Greenhouse Resort is a boutique hotel with a clear focus on eco-friendly practices; including a solar water heating system and energy efficient lighting. The resort offers 20 spaced out tents, though ‘tent’ is a bit of a misnomer! Each one comes with all the facilities one would expect of a luxury hotel, including en-suite bath facilities and solid, tasteful furniture.
Spend the day and evening enjoying the festivities of the Pushkar Camel Fair with your guide.
Return to the fair this morning. After lunch at the Greenhouse, continue to Nagaur for a stay at Ranvas. The Ranvas hotel has only recently opened but one would be wrong to say it is new. The property occupies the former women’s quarter of the Nagaur Fort, once a pleasure palace of the Maharaja of Jodhpur and it has been lovingly restored to its present state. The rooms are all within the fort itself and so one has the feeling of being part of the history and pomp of yesteryear. The area is less frequented by tourists as compared with other Rajasthani cities and so a night or two here is well worth it. This afternoon, enjoy a guided tour of Achichhatragarh Fort.
Proceed to Jodhpur today, the Blue City. Upon arriving, you’ll be assisted with checking in to Raas for a two night stay. One of our favourites, this glorious little hotel lies at the foot of the mighty Mehrangarh Fort, in the heart of Jodhpur’s Walled City. It is the only luxury hotel to be based in the old town and the views of the fort looming above are quite spectacular. Strolling away from the excitement and hustle and bustle of the old town and walking under Raas’ imposing gateway is like entering a blissfully peaceful, hidden oasis. Here, there’ll be time to settle in and freshen up, before your accompanied by your guide for a walking tour through the Old City this afternoon. Wandering among the tiny shops dotting these crowded, narrow lanes in the heart of the town, you’ll get a real feel for the life and colour of Marwari jewellery, utensils, kitchenware, leather shoes, trinkets, wedding clothes – you can find just about everything here (including locksmiths and indigenous dentists sitting side by side on the street). The walk will end at a rooftop restaurant overlooking Mehrangarh Fort – the venue for your private Bhopa performance (a traditional Rajasthani performance art combining singing, painting and dancing).
A guided tour of the Blue City takes in Jaswant Thada and the majestic Mehrangarh Fort. Later head out to a Bishnoi village, in the sandy outskirts of Jodhpur, on a Jeep safari. You’ll also meet a village of potters and skilled rug weavers.
Continue to Udaipur today, on a long but scenic drive through the Aravalli hills. On the way, break the journey in Ranakpur, to visit one of India’s most elaborately carved temples. Upon arriving into Udaipur, you’ll check-in to the iconic Taj Lake Palace for a two night stay. This 250-year-old white marble palace floats like a mirage in the middle of Lake Pichola and looks dazzling from the shore. Reached by a short boat ride, it was built as a summer retreat by Maharana Jagjit Singh who ruled Jaipur in the 17th century.
A tour of Udaipur today begins in the narrow streets of the Old City, on a guided walk. The Old City is built on tiny hillocks and raised areas, its lanes full of twists and turns, with plenty of charming little shops to be discovered. The hilly streets are teeming with clothing, silver jewellery and leather-bound journals. Later explore the exquisite City Palace, as well as the Jagdish temple, Crystal Gallery and Saheliyon ki Bari.
The morning’s at leisure in Udaipur to relax and enjoy the Taj Lake Palace. Board a fight back to Delhi this afternoon, for a last night’s stay. We’d recommend the Holiday Inn Aerocity. Though lacking in character, it’s a convenient location for flying in and out of Delhi as it’s just a five minute drive from Terminal 3.
You’ll be chauffeured back to the airport this morning in time for your onward flight. The accommodation described is merely our suggestion and can be tweaked to better suit your tastes. We have a range of wonderful properties to recommend to suit all budgets. Similarly, we would encourage you to ask for any number of amendments – every aspect is flexible, from the accommodation to the destinations to the length. All our tours are tailor-made and can be refined to complement your preferences. We can arrange this itinerary at any time of the year – even without the Pushkar Fair it makes for a wonderful journey through the region, soaking up not only the highlights but also lesser-known gems. A stay in Agra can easily be included (between Delhi and Jaipur) for those who’d like to visit the Taj Mahal.
